- The owner or occupant of any property which abuts a fire hydrant shall refrain from obstructing the hydrant or access to the hydrant in any way, and shall remove all snow from the hydrant to allow emergency access within twenty-four(24) hours after snow ceases to fall. The snow should be removed at least four feet(4) around the hydrant. Responsibility for removal of snow from around a fire hydrant which is located on a dividing line between two properties or adjacent to an undivided property housing a duplex shall alternate and shall fall upon the property with the lower village assigned house number in the even numbered years and upon the property with the higher village assigned house number in the odd numbered years. The minimum cost of snow removal by village crews from any such property will be $25.00 and if not paid will become a special tax or charge against the property.
